How do we communicate?

Are we Vista Ridge High School (VRHS) Wrestling or Cry Wolf Wrestling® Club? The short answer is “both” and “it depends on the month.” Please refer to our current Calendar to view details during Vita Ridge Wrestling Season (November through February) and Cry Wolf Wrestling Season (March through October).

Cry Wolf Wrestling® is required to meet a higher standard, while concurrently preventing conflicts of interest between our two separate seasons of folkstyle and freestyle/greco-roman that are coached by the same staff. Within the footer section of every page is a list of Resources that we must comply with: SafeSport, USA Wrestling, NFHS, CHSAA, District 49, and VRHS Athletics. Our parents and student-athletes voted in previous seasons to maintain a single portfolio of social media and communication methods to ensure transparency between the two wrestling communities. Additionally, they requested annual consistency for planning purposes.

Our Communication Plan consists of the following in our attempt to meet and follow USA Wrestling’s SafeSport Policy, a higher standard, that can be read at http://content.themat.com/USAWrestlingSafeSportHandbook.pdf

1. This website, https://crywolfwrestling.org/, serves as our team landing page for our entire communication plan. It also includes wrestling resources for parents, student-athletes and fans of the sport.

2. Direct phone calls, text messages or emails from Parents to the coaching staff are welcomed and encouraged for open, honest and effective communication throughout the year; not just during season. Student-Athletes must include a second coach or parent on all messages (see USA Wrestling SafeSport Policies). This change will require some reinforcement. All coach phone numbers and emails are listed on the team website or you can contact directly via the TeamSnap app. Coach Eric is your primary contact for information and serves as the “communications director” for all social media TeamSnap, and website.

3. Our Facebook Page promotes both Vista Ridge Wrestling (November – February), Cry Wolf Wrestling® Club (March – October) and the sport of wrestling.

4. Our Instagram posts include images, short videos and wrestling memes to promote the sport while highlighting our wrestling program.

5. Join our Twitter conversation about wrestling across the U.S. and around the World! Updates during competition will be posted here.

6. Our YouTube Channel includes interviews and other video to promote the sport, while highlighting our wrestling program. Eventually, our Podcast recordings will also be posted here, as well as on your Podcast app.

7. Our Cry Wolf Wrestling® Podcast is being developed. I filed for a “Cry Wolf Wrestling®” copyright and trademark, as well as for a non-profit 501c3 incorporation towards our goal of making wrestling FREE for our parents, student-athletes and coaches. Lofty goal, but why not? It was free for me to benefit from the life lessons of the sport and would like to pay it forward.
